Why We Should Not Take Alcohol

Have you ever heard of the song ‘Blame It On The Alcohol’ by Jamie Foxx? Well, I definitely have to agree with it. Do you know how many people die every year from drinking alcohol? And how many have died from hit and run accidents just because the drivers were too drunk? Think of all those lives that have been ruined all because of alcohol. Think of all those people suffering on hospital beds because of excessive use of alcohol. Think of all those who died because of alcohol either directly or indirectly. I bet you didn’t know that alcohol caused 690,786 deaths last year. And I bet you didn’t know that alcohol addiction is a medical condition. We should never take alcohol. It harms. It destroys. It kills. Now, did you know that alcohol harms virtually every part of your body? When consumed in large amounts it can harm virtually every part of your body. Extended alcohol abuse can cause blood conditions including several forms of anemia and blood clotting abnormalities. Alcohol misuse is an important factor in a number of cancers, including liver cancer and mouth cancer, both of which are on the increase. Alcohol is second only to smoking as a risk factor for oral and digestive tract cancers. These examples are only a few out of the many. So when on drinks alcohol, he or she is already at the risk of death. ‘It’s just one drink!’ many say, but it only takes one drink to make a difference. Remember, every part of your body is being harmed with that one drink. Next, I’m sure every one of you is familiar with this: Drink Driving. Businessman Su Hong, killed a woman while driving when he was drunk, but his punishment was only 11 weeks' jail and a five-year driving ban. Drinking and driving on Singapore roads is limited to about 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. That works out to no more than two glasses of alcoholic drinks and is the same as official standards in the United States and Malaysia, but more tolerant than many other countries.
