1.1 Getting to know technology
The age of technology and more specifically, computer systems has caused a remarkable move in the way we work nowadays. Just 20 years ago, enhancements such as the Facsimile (FAX) device, and the Personal Computer (PC) were state-of-the-art and considered leading edge. Nowadays, many organizations wouldn't be able to operate efficiently without these tools. Furthermore, marketing and sales communications as we know it, would almost disappear without E-mail, fax-on-demand and teleconferencing. We have gotten so acquainted to the presence of computer systems and the solutions they offer that many of us don't remember what it was like before. This report will attempt to discuss the development of some of today's technological innovation and their impact on how we do company.

1.2 The Modifying Workplace
Many workers were slow to take up technology; this latency is due to some individual’s natural resistance to the types of adaptation presented by changing technological innovation. Many employees are nervous and/or exacerbated of being forced to modify the way they execute their job operations. Every company has people that would much rather be operating "the old way". Slowly, these people are either adopting or modifying or are facing reduction. This reduction can take the form of either wearing down or in extraordinary instances - cancellations or layoff. It is not unusual for a company to go through a cleansing procedure that removes "dead-wood" and people who do not obtain the needed skills. Because computer systems are capable of doing recurring projects so well, their development has taken a somewhat foreseen path and has removed many projects that were once conducted by people. Although many of these boring projects have been reduced or removed, computer systems designed a whole new set of projects focused on computer production, development and support. A significant challenge for the government and company areas is that these new projects need highly trained, convenient, impressive employees who are constantly improving and learning new skills.

1.3 Flexible Workplace
In the past, employees were needed to be actually present in the company during "normal" company hours. That is where they conducted their job operations and interacted with other employees. Nowadays, many organizations are allowing, if not motivating, versatile perform surroundings. Telecommuting is the technological innovation that made this versatility possible. Some employees connect from their desktop PC to the workplace system and execute their job operate from home. More than two million business employees are now telecommuting full-time, and three periods that vary are involved in this kind of connections one or two times a week (Lewis, 2000). If a person's responsibilities don't require them to be actually in the workplace, this versatility is a fantastic way of doing their job while managing their own schedule. For example, if a worker is operating on a venture and wants to do this kind of performance at night, he/she could basically logon to the business system at their convenience and access the needed details, use E-mail etc. The disadvantage to this kind of operating agreement is the natural lack of connections between the employees who are home-based and the employees in the workplace. In the example mentioned above, the employees in the workplace would not get a reaction to their E-mail until they signed in the next morning, on the other hand, the worker at home would not get any further...
