Effects Of Drunk Driving and Alcohol

Drunk driving affects many lives in the United States of America. Many people lose their cars, lives, families, homes, and money over their senseless act to abuse the right to drink. Driving drunk is a huge decision that people make and has serious consequences if caught. In Michigan the legal limit for drunk driving is a blood alcohol concentration level of 0.08. Not all people follow the law so they have to deal with consequences which consist of cash payments, jail time, and sometimes their own life. Jail play’s a major part in drunk driving. When people are suspected of driving drunk which is considered to the police as DUI (Driving under the Influence) the police have the right to issue a ticket and take a person to jail. If a person goes to jail for driving while under the influence they get high court cost and can serve up to the maximum of thirty days in jail. A person can even lose their drivers license over a simple drunk driving accident or ticket they encounter while driving under the influence of alcohol. If a person receives too many D.U.I’S, the judge can request that they go to rehabilitation, or take a drinking while driving class that will teach them the rules and regulations about driving while under the influence. In Michigan you have to be twenty one to legally consume or purchase alcohol. However fifty percent of car accidents are committed by teenagers under the influence of alcohol. When a person is under the influence and attempts to drive they might not think that they will injure anyone but can cost themselves or somebody else a leg, arm, or even their life. Hill2

Therefore, when a person drives drunk they not only put others at risk of harm but they are hurting themselves. Alcohol does lots of damage to a human body whether people know it or not.
