Introduction Speech Outline
Title: Drunk Driving
A. Can half of the class please raise youre hand. (point out people). This half of the class represents drivers killed in crashes who tested positive for drugs also had alcohol in their system.
B. Two years ago I unfortunatly had a friend pass from being hit by a drunk driver. Today I am going to tell you about drunk driving, how alcohol effects the brain, and the consequences of drunk driving. By the end of my speech, you will learn the scientific research of alcohol effects on the brain and what drunk driving can do to ruin your life.
A. First, Im going to tell you how alcohol negatively effects the brain.
1. Alcohol effects on brain.
-slowed reaction time
-some people only need 2 or 3 drinks
-don’t realize how drunk you are
- impairment of memory
-more alcohol, more impairment to brain.
B. Now that you know what alcohol does to the brain, ill tell you why you should never even think about getting behind the wheel after a drink.
2. Consequences of drunk driving
-always on your record
-the prices (classes)
-cant get jobs/school
-could possibly kill someone and be in jail for life
-something you will have to live with for the rest of your life.
Transition: After hearing about drunk driving, ill move on to my summary.
Drunk driving impairs the brain horribly

Next time when you are in a situation where drunk driving is a question just think “you can hand over your keys or your life, you choose.
