Attendance to ISCORE
ISCORE is the Iowa State Conference on Race and Ethnicity (ISCORE). I was so happy I have a chance to taking the lecture here. That is one of the most important and necessary experiences in my entire life.
Morning Address Brian Behnken
At 9:00 AM. – 9:30 AM, I attended at the lecture of the Brian Behnken who is an associate professor in the Department of History and the U.S. Latino/a Studies. I really like his idea about the His research and teaching interests which include comparative race relations, civil rights and ethnic history. I’m now taking the course that is Religion 210. I choose this lecture because I have some background of the culture of Latino. The professor’s idea gives me a lot of help to understand the Mexico Americans.
Second Lecture: Is it Worth It?
Pioneer Room 10:00-10:50 AM
This is the second lecture I attended. The truth was that I believe is we worth it to continue education. As a Chinese student, we have the same trouble as the speaker told. Janelle Seward showed us a presentation help a lot of student have the confidence to continue study and overcome. Although the college costs, sacrifice, and negative impact come around us, I will still do myself and work hard. I believe hard is the only way to success.
Third Lecture: Bringing My Family to College: A Panel Discussion of Family Influences on College Adjustment Cardinal Room 11:00-11:50 AM This is the third Lecture I attend, and it also gives me a lot of idea for how to stay with my family. This interactive panel consists of five graduate students representing Latina/o, Black, Asian, Asian American, and American Indian cultural backgrounds. I believe it give me a lot help to rethink my behavior with my families during their undergraduate and graduate careers.
